Capital City Airport (CXY) Eliminates Landing Fee for Aircraft Less Than 5,000 Pounds  

(New Cumberland, PA—March 25, 2019—The Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority (SARAA), owner and operator of Capital City Airport (CXY) in New Cumberland, PA, has eliminated the landing fee charged to any itinerant aircraft using the airport weighing 5,000 pounds or less Maximum Gross Landed Weight.

“Taking this action provides operators of small aircraft the opportunity to use Capital City Airport more affordably,” said Timothy J. Edwards, SARAA Executive Director.  “We look forward to seeing increased aircraft activity this summer benefitting regional pilots, airport tenants and the surrounding community.”

Landing fees do not apply to any aircraft based at Capital City Airport.

About Capital City Airport (CXY):
Capital City Airport, originally called Harrisburg State Airport, was dedicated on Aug. 16, 1930.  Col. Charles A. Lindbergh visited the airport twice in October of 1930.  In 1936 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania bought the airport and renamed it Harrisburg-York State Airport.  The airport was the region’s commercial service airport until 1968 when commercial operations transitioned to what is now Harrisburg International Airport.  In 1998, airport ownership was transferred to the Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority.  CXY handles approximately 25,000 operations each year and generating an annual economic output of nearly $1 million.
